Porsche Panamericana 1989 schaal 1:43 - Op bronzen sokkel

Limited Edition

For his 80 th birthday, Ferry Porsche was offered a concept car able to roll and developed from the Porsche 911 type 964 Carrera 4: the Porsche Panamericana, which was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) 1989.
All Porsche employees, guests of Ferry Porsche on his birthday as Lee Iacocca and Giovanni Agnelli received a miniature of the car in 1:43 Limited Edition, set on a bronze plate.

Origin:

Named after Panamericana, this model was designed by Porsche engineers in only 6 months, under the direction of Harm Lagaay (head of the Porsche style) and Ulrich Bez (Technical Director). This concept car is a tribute of the success of Porsche with its 550 RS from 1953 to the famous and long race La Carrera Panamericana Mexico in Mexico.
September 10, 1989, the Porsche Panamericana concept was presented to Ferry Porsche on his 80 th birthday in his stronghold of Zell Am See. For the occasion, his four sons (Hans-Peter, Gerhard Anton, Ferry Alexander and Wolfgang) were present.

The Porsche Panamericana was shown for the first time to the public in September 1989 at the Frankfurt motor show (IAA) 1989 and then at the Los Angeles Auto Show 1990.

Design - Bodywork

Concept cars of Porsche are scarce, this Porsche Panamericana did surprise during its presentations and
caused a lot of ink to flow The very particular style was not to the liking of some. This concept gives the image of a sports car with the look of 4 × 4, which can be transform into an adventurer if necessary, thanks its specific wings.
It is a strict 2 places with rear engine. It has one single outside mirror, left at driver's side.
The design of its roof with horizontal structure will strongly influence the developments made to the Porsche 911 Targa of 1995. This Porsche was developed based on the Porsche 911 type 964 Carrera 4, the first Porsche 911 to be equipped with an four-wheel drive in series.
In contrast to the produced Porsche of the time, the lines of the Porsche Panamericana are more incisive. The wings show strongly the wheels and seem to be simple fenders. The body is more stripped and shows some of the details of the future Porsche 911 type 993.
