The brochure distinguishes three historical periods of the badge:

Model years 1954–1974: Characterized by a striking red-orange color. The 'Porsche' logo has wide, golden letters and 'Stuttgart' is set on a recessed background. In the center is the powerful horse with a distinctive shoulder joint and a full tail.

Model years 1974–1995: The logo shines in a golden color, but the red stripes are now transparent red instead of orange. 'Stuttgart' is still placed deeper.

Model years 1994–2005: Introduced with the 993 generation. This badge has slim, black letters for the brand name. The red color is transparent and the horse has been given a more elegant shape.
